How Virtual Assistants can help parents

August 21, 2021

Fall is approaching, and it’s “back-to-school time.” You’re probably wondering how you are going to manage all of your responsibilities and activities at work and home.  If you had even just one extra hour to spend with your children every day, imagine what you could do.  Maybe you could take them to a park, help with their homework, or prepare a nice family meal.

If you have older kids, you may need that hour to get them from school or home to activities, or to attend their sporting events or school plays.

If you’re a small business owner in a job that does not have flexible hours or enough staff, you may have thought about hiring a personal assistant to help you with all of the demands of parenting which you do not have time to juggle.

On the other hand, you may think it makes more sense to hire a virtual assistant (VA) to help you with some of the tasks that you’re not able to get to in your business, help you run your business, or provide expertise or a skill that you don’t have.

How would you choose? Here are some things to consider:

According to a traditional definition, personal assistants typically only work for one person, and they may be expected to help only with personal tasks or manage entire households.  In contrast, some VAs are trained to only help with your business needs, only use specific skills, or perform limited tasks.

If you are trying to find someone on your own you might have to interview a lot of individuals to get the right match and be very clear about your needs and expectations. You would also need to decide if this person would become your employee or a contractor.  You might have more options if you work with an agency that places VAs, but these types of companies are not all the same.

What you need is flexibility.  That means finding a VA who can handle your business and personal needs, and a company that can help you figure it all out.

At Aim2Assist,  our goal is to help you figure out how we can help you with all different types of needs and match you with someone who has the skills to make your life easier overall.  We strive to be your partner so if your needs change over time, you know who to call.

If you have a VA to help with your business, you may not need anyone to help with your children because you would have more time to spend with your family and manage all of the jobs and responsibilities of being a parent.  However, you may still want someone who can make personal appointments, order things online, and manage your personal or family calendars.

Our VAs can do both. They cannot drive your children around, do your household laundry, or take your kids shopping for school supplies.  But, they can do many other tasks to help you be the best parent(s) you can be, as long as they can be handled from their virtual location.
